Contact Senators on the Senate's Help, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee Today in Support of Community Mental Health Services Improvement Act’s Telehealth Provisions
Executive Summary
On October 17, the Community Mental Health Services Improvement Act (S. 2182) was introduced in the Senate by Senators Jack Reed (D-RI) and Gordon Smith (R-OR). In addition to amending the Public Health Service Act to include provisions to co-locate primary care and specialty medical care in community-based mental health and addiction treatment organizations, the bill also includes provisions to support tele-mental health in medically underserved areas.
Action Needed
The National Council urges all members in states with Senators on the Help, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, the committee of jurisdication for S. 2182, to send letters TODAY asking these Senators to support these tele-mental health provisions. A template letter, to be placed on your agency’s letterhead, is available online.
