Information technology can, and often does, make a world of difference to people with mental illnesses and addiction disorders. It can also make helping these individuals faster and more effective.

The Excellence in Health Information Technology Award, with a cash prize of $10,000, recognizes an organization that has made innovative use of new technology to improve the organization or the lives of the people it serves.

Recipients have demonstrated that their innovative IT improvements resulted in practical, measurable outcomes in one of the following areas:

  • Operational effectiveness
  • Consumer care
  • Internal efficiencies
  • Decision-making abilities
  • Empowerment of consumer-driven care

Submissions are considered from National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare member organizations only.

Nomination
Submissions should give an overview of the business issue, challenge, or opportunity the technology was meant to address. You should then describe in detail how the technology was used innovatively and explain the impact it has had on the organization.

Innovative use can take several forms: use of an existing product or service; creation of a new product or service; or integration of disparate products or services.
