Preconference Programs: Mental Health First Aid Instructor Training

Mental Health First Aid USA is a groundbreaking, evidence-based public education initiative.

In just 10 years, Mental Health First Aid will be as commonplace in the USA as First Aid and CPR . The mission: to help every American understand mental illness and better respond to psychiatric emergencies. Educators, business leaders, human resource departments, caregivers, first responders, primary care staff, new addiction and mental health workers and more will benefit when your organization offers this course.

Join the movement today — prepare to offer Mental Health First Aid in your community. The National Council’s 5-day instructor training preceding the conference will prepare and credential participants to teach the 12-hour course to the public.

Fee: $1,500; add the conference for only $100.
Fee includes the 5 days of comprehensive instruction with one-on-one feedback and evaluation; all materials needed to teach the12-hour program, including an instructor resource kit and teaching notes; access to our instructor technical assistance website and listserve; and ongoing support and resources from the National Council.

About Mental Health First Aid

At the community level, Mental Health First Aid is offered as a 12-hour certification course to help people better understand mental illness and respond to psychiatric emergencies. Within the first year of the program’s launch in the USA, more than 300 persons in 33 states have been certified as instructors and have taught Mental Health First Aid to 3,000 educators, employers and business leaders, faith/religious leaders, families and caregivers, law enforcement officials and other first responders, mental health authorities, nurses and other primary care workers, social workers, and other concerned citizens in their communities.
