Motivational Interviewing for Better Health Outcomes
Webinar on Tuesday, February 22, 2010
1 pm eastern, 12 pm central, 11 am mountain, 10 am pacific, 9 am alaska

ABOUT THE WEBINAR
Motivational Interviewing helps persons with mental and addiction disorders and other chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, and asthma make positive behavioral changes to support better health.

This webinar provides behavioral health specialists, psychologists, clinical social workers, alcohol and drug treatment counselors, physicians, and nurse practitioners with an overview of how to implement Motivational Interviewing in clinical settings and reviews the benefits to clients. The webinar covers the four principles of Motivational Interviewing — expressing empathy and avoiding arguing, developing discrepancy, rolling with resistance and supporting self-efficacy (client’s belief he or she can successfully make a change).

ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Sangre de Cristo, a leader in training on Motivational Interviewing and integrating behavioral health and primary care in safety net provider settings, will moderate/facilitate the webinar and be available for questions and dialogue with attendees. A community health center will also describe their experience in building Motivational Interviewing into their practice delivery model.
