National Council’s Second Annual

On March 10-11, 2020, the National Council is hosting a CCBHC National Fly-In to bring together CCBHCs to urge their Members of Congress to support an extension and expansion of CCBHCs. Your voices at last year’s fly-in tipped the scales for the multiple extensions the program has received so far.

Now, join us again to amplify our impact! By flying to DC, you’ll unite with a hundred of your colleagues in continuing to build the case for CCBHC extension and expansion. We are fortunate to once again be able to cover confirmed participants’ travel expenses, so mark your calendars and register today.

Why do we need a CCBHC fly-in event?

Your advocacy efforts this past year have helped secure yet another extension of the CCBHC demonstration through May 22, 2020. Now, we have an opportunity for an intensive advocacy push to secure a 2-year extension and multi-state expansion of CCBHCs. While we can’t control the broader political dynamics that may ultimately result in another short-term extension of the program, with every contact you are setting the stage for our long-term success. The drumbeat for CCBHCs continues to grow—thank you for raising your voices!

How do I book my travel and hotel arrangements?

Register today and we will work with confirmed attendees to schedule your travel with the National Council’s travel agent. The National Council is fortunate to once again be able to cover confirmed participants’ travel and hotel expenses.

When should I arrive/depart?

Our travel agent will work with you to book your flights. All advocates should arrive in Washington, D.C. by 3:00 PM ET on Tuesday, March 10 and depart after 5:00 PM ET Wednesday, March 11 after a day full of meetings on Capitol Hill. We are hosting the CCBHC Fly-in activities at the Hamilton Hotel at 1001 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20005.

What should I do with my luggage on Wednesday?

The National Council has secured a luggage storage facility on Capitol Hill for advocates to use during their visits on Wednesday. We will bus advocates from the Hamilton Hotel to Capitol Hill on Wednesday morning so advocates can drop off their luggage before heading to their meetings with legislators.

How do I book meetings with legislators?

National Council is asking all advocates to  book your meetings with your legislators in coordination with others from your state. Before requesting meetings, please reach out to Michael Petruzzelli at to ensure you are doing so in coordination with the rest of your state attendees. We do this to ensure advocates are not requesting multiple meetings from the same offices. When you’re ready to reach out, you can use this template email and Congressional Health Staff Directory to reach out and book an in-person meeting with your Representative and Senators on Wednesday, March 11.

How should I prepare for my meetings?

Join the National Council on Wednesday February 19 at 4:00 PM ET and Thursday, March 5 at 2:00 PM ET for two planning webinars to learn the latest happenings in Washington, D.C., and what our specific messages will be to legislators about CCBHCs and the need to extend and expand this important program. Register for these webinars to get prepped for success at this year’s fly-in!

Questions? Please contact Michael Petruzzelli at if you have any questions.
