The National Council is pleased to announce that Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) will give a keynote address at the 2014 National Council Conference and Hill Day.

Senator Ayotte is a leader in advocating for the improvement of public policies that affect the millions of people with mental health and substance use problems. Last year, she introduced the bipartisan Mental Health First Aid Act (S. 153) and supported the legislation’s inclusion in the Mental Health Awareness and Improvement Act of 2013 (S. 689), which achieved a near unanimous vote of 95 to 2 in the Senate.

Senator Ayotte also co-sponsored the Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Act of 2013 (S. 162), which would improve training for law enforcement and community partners to assist people with mental health challenges.

For her persistent and passionate leadership on behalf of Americans with mental health and substance use disorders, the National Council recognized Senator Ayotte as a 2013 Legislator of the Year. Don’t miss this chance to hear from an inspiring leader – register today for Hill Day and the conference!
