SAMHSA to Host Listening Session on Excellence in Mental Health Act
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has announced it will hold a listening session on the Excellence in Mental Health Act demonstration program November 12, 2014. SAMHSA is tasked with writing the federal regulations that will specify how organizations can meet the law’s criteria to become Certified Community Behavioral Health Centers (CCBHCs).
During the listening session, SAMHSA staff will take public comments from interested stakeholders wishing to share their perspectives and provide input on what form the CCBHC criteria should take. Though the text of the law broadly outlined what services CCBHCs must provide, it left the details open to further clarification by SAMHSA.
Participants will be able to attend the listening session in person or via webcast. The National Council will be participating in this session, and we encourage Capitol Connector readers to participate as well. Additional details about the listening session will be forthcoming; stay tuned to Capitol Connector for registration information.
