Webinar Series: Register for the 2017 Suicide Prevention Series

An average of 20 veterans die by suicide every day. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States, and veterans account for 18 percent of these tragic deaths. This September, in observance of Suicide Prevention Month, experts on the most up-to-date veterans’ suicide data, suicide risk assessment, and prevention tools available will present their findings to clinicians who serve our nation’s veterans.

Suicide prevention is a national priority and these statistics from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs are a reminder that within the veteran community, and for all care providers who serve our nation’s veterans, suicide prevention is of singular importance.

The National Council invites all interested advocates and stakeholders to join in its shared commitment to our nation’s veterans by participating in ongoing continuing education in assessment and prevention of suicide risk.  Each week, the Cohen Veterans Network and the Center for Deployment Psychology, in collaboration with National Council for Mental Wellbeing and SAMHSA, will host free, web-based training. Continuing education units will be provided for all attendees.
