Integrating Harm Reduction into the Substance Use Disorder Care Continuum

The philosophy and implementation of harm reduction is a critical and effective approach to engaging people who use drugs, decreasing risk of overdose, and improving overall health and wellbeing. Harm reduction is not a new concept; these proven approaches have been used for decades to improve the health of people who use drugs as well as for other areas or health and wellness such as the management of chronic health conditions like diabetes and depression.

This webinar will begin to explore how substance use disorder treatment providers can utilize harm reduction strategies to support people who use drugs and more effectively address and treat addiction. This webinar will discuss the wide spectrum of harm reduction strategies that support the mantra of meeting people “where they are” with compassion and humility. We will also discuss and provide specific skills and approaches to implementing harm reduction strategies into existing practices.
