Investing in Staff Development to Promote CCBHC Success

Since the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, organizations and states are well-positioned from the CCBHC model of care, with improved access to funding. The CCBHC model is instrumental in improving care quality and staff retention. However, achieving and maintaining success as a CCBHC is not a simple task, it requires full participation from you staff, board members, and collaborating organizations. One core component of CCBHC success is using training to prepare your staff to deliver a variety of services to a diverse patient population.

Objectives:

• Describe the national model for CCBHC including the types of mental health and substance use services.
• Discuss the role of staff development in meeting CCBHC requirements involving staffing, accessibility and scope of services, care coordination, and organization authority.
