Wellbeing Wednesdays, Episode 9 — A Legacy of Success
A Legacy of Success: How Senator Roy Blunt Became a Champion of Expanded Access to Care
Few people have shaped the federal policies that resulted in improved mental health and substance use treatment in America as much as Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO) has. His efforts over the past decade to expand access to care have led to the rapid expansion of Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs). From the introduction of the Excellence in Mental Health Act to the recent passage over the summer of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, Senator Blunt has helped lead federal efforts to improve substance use and mental health treatment. As the Missouri senator prepares to retire at the end of his current term, we will speak with him about mental health and substance use reform, CCBHC expansion and his legacy of success.
