To thrive in a managed care environment, mental health and addiction treatment providers will need to embrace a new strategy in marketing themselves to health plans: delivering the best value in the marketplace.  In the context of behavioral health services, value means achieving the best outcomes for patients at the lowest cost.

This preconference university will explain the “value” approach to marketing yourself to managed care.  It will emphasize the importance of assessing leverage in the marketplace, describe the kind of information you need to measure outcomes and costs for patients, and highlight network delivery models that reward value.  It will also identify smart marketing practices to avoid legal risks related to anticompetitive conduct, financial risks related to unstable health plans, and operational risks related to poorly written provider contracts.
