HALF DAY PRECONFERENCE UNIVERSITY
Workplace Violence Prevention for Mental Health and Substance Use Service Agencies
Sunday, May 4 from 1 pm to 5 pm
Join internationally known justice and violence expert Dr. Joel Dvoskin in a highly interactive discussion of ways to identify and mitigate the risk of violence in mental health, substance use treatment, and social service settings. You will examine ways to use training and supervision to identify troubled employees and clients, especially those who present risk factors for violence, and refer them for appropriate assistance and intervention. You will also learn how to identify risk-laden situations and practices that must be addressed to ensure the safety of staff and clients, as well as discuss capital and physical plant improvements that can make the workplace more safe without sacrificing the user-friendliness that such clinics require.
