Equity in Action: Practicing Allyship in Integrated Care

Championing health equity for populations that have been historically underserved and marginalized often involves using one’s voice and embedded advantages to practice inclusion and share decision making and resources when it comes to health care services.

This is especially the case when an individual does not identify with historically marginalized groups, yet has meaningful influence, access to resources, decision making, and power dynamics within healthcare services at a professional level.

Advancing equity in healthcare services also involves practicing cultural humility — curiosity and willingness to learn, reflect on the cultures and experiences of oneself, and recognition that others have expertise in their own experiences.

Join us on Tuesday, May 14, from 12-1 p.m. ET for our monthly Equity in Action session, Practicing Allyship in Integrated Care Services. This session will bring together equity experts who will discuss their practices, recommendations, and personal reflections on being an ally themselves and working alongside other allies to further equity in healthcare. Integrated Care providers and staff will walk away from this session with ideas for improving equity in healthcare services, and in their personal and professional learning journey.

All sessions are supported by the Center of Excellence for Integrated Health Solutions (CoE-IHS), funded by a grant award from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
