CoE-IHS Office Hour: Advancing Health Equity ECHO Opportunity Information Session

Featured Speakers

Due to systemic racism, social marginalization and oppression, historically marginalized communities of color continue to face disproportionate challenges in accessing quality general health care, mental health care, and substance use treatment services. This has negatively impacted mental and general health outcomes for Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) and individuals from other historically marginalized communities such as LGBTQ+ communities and rural communities.

Integration of general health, mental health and substance use treatment services is a critical strategy for advancing healthcare equity among historically marginalized communities. To integrate services that advance equity, organizations must strive to improve clinical and organizational cultural humility practices and work to actively reduce unwarranted biases, racism, and trauma. They must also promote cultural and linguistic responsiveness among clients and staff of various intersecting identities, including race, class, gender, sexual orientation and other social factors. Overall, this effort involves implementing whole-person and population health strategies that consider the social determinants of health (SDOH) of clients and communities and organizational practices that prevent, identify and support compassion fatigue among clinical providers and staff as they work to enhance equitable health care for all.

We are pleased to announce the opportunity for a limited number of organizations to join the Advancing Health Equity through Integrated Health and Clinical Practice ECHO, through the Center of Excellence for Integrated Health Solutions.

Kicking off in late February, this six-month ECHO series will give participants the chance to engage with other healthcare provider organizations through didactic presentations and case presentations on key issues related to integrated health, clinical practice and improving health equity within their organization.
