The year end spending bill, passed by Congress and signed by President Biden, includes numerous mental health and substance use-related provisions. Read the National Council’s statement here.

The National Council is pleased to see several provisions included from the following pieces of legislation:

• Mental Health Access Improvement Act
• Mainstreaming Addiction Treatment (MAT) Act
• Medication Access and Training Expansion Act

In addition, the bill includes funding for:

• Mental Health Block Grant
• National Institute of Mental Health
• School-based grants
• Project AWARE
• Mobile Crisis
• Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery (STAR) Loan Repayment Program
• Parity Enforcement
