Integrating and Supporting PRSS in CCBHCs

With support from the Foundation for Opioid Response Efforts (FORE), the National Council has launched a new project on Integrating and Supporting Peer Recovery Support Services (PRSS) in Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs).   

This national initiative aims to develop a comprehensive framework to meaningfully integrate PRSS into CCBHCs and other clinical settings. The work is guided by an expert advisory committee of peer workers, supervisors, CCBHC administrators and other key staff. The framework and accompanying tools reflect the committee members’ lived experience, professional insight and lessons learned from past integration efforts. This ensures that the resulting resources are both practical and grounded in the realities of implementation.

The Integrating and Supporting Peer Recovery Support Services (PRSS) in Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) Project excited to announce a funded request for applications (RFA), open from Sept. 15 to Oct. 10, 2025. Start preparing your application now to participate in our PRSS Integration Learning Collaborative!

This high-impact learning collaborative is a funded opportunity for CCBHC pilot sites to strengthen PRSS using the Recovery-oriented Peer Integration Framework. The framework will provide resources at the practice, clinic and systems level for CCBHCs and other clinical organizations integrating peers.

Through the learning collaborative, participants will:

  • Deepen their understanding of recovery-oriented practices and peer integration strategies.
  • Explore challenges that substance use peers face in clinical settings and identify practical, empowering solutions.
  • Receive actionable training on implementation, including role clarity, supervision, career pathways, administrative policies and personal, professional and leadership development that promotes peer well-being.

The program will feature five workshops (two hours each) and five sessions of office hours, culminating in a case study peer exchange event. Each workshop includes one hour of expert-led instruction and one hour of hands-on application. Office hours allow for open dialogue, troubleshooting and collaborative problem-solving. Participating organizations will also receive funding support to help implement the framework and fully engage in the collaborative.
