Substance use prevention has changed. Gone are the days of simplistic “Just Say No” campaigns and school assemblies that failed to address real-world challenges. Prevention today is more dynamic, personal and grounded in science, identity and lived experience. It is about equipping youth, not just warning them.

Trusted adults serve as protective factors for youth, positively influencing young people’s long-term health and wellbeing.
From providing essential information and counseling, to offering a supportive relationship and linkage to parents, youth-serving providers and other trusted adults play a key role in young people’s lives.
The following resources offer support in becoming a trusted adult and maintaining relationships with youth.
