Research Roundtable on Substance Use Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment for Youth—Summary of the Proceedings

The Youth SBIRT Research Roundtable: Current Status and Future Directions convened in February 2018 to discuss the current status of research and practice around youth SBIRT as well as identify key gaps and opportunities to increase the knowledge base and expand evidence-based implementation of SBIRT services. Thirteen substance use prevention researchers and subject matter experts attended the roundtable. This meeting convening summary describes the expert presentations and facilitated discussions and includes several key recommendations that emerged from the roundtable that can be used to advance youth SBIRT. Expert feedback for future directions as they relate to each component of the SBIRT model are summarized throughout.
